It would be great to have the sky dotted with lots of interesting things like sky whales, sky pirates, floating castles etc. I agree, but It can also be done really well. EverQuest 2's second expansion was called Kingdom of Sky and all of the zones were floating islands chained together. It felt vast and great.

If you purchase an expansion through steam, you have to use it with that steam acccount. If you purchase an expansion through guildwars2.com, you have to use it with an Anet account. So just make sure you buy the expansion through the right store to go with the account you already have.
Since the Icebrood Saga, a series of major patches in 2019 to 2021, the writing of the stories in Guild Wars 2 have become much darker, grim and serious. This darker and more serious atmosphere can also be found in the End of Dragons expansion. Don’t worry too much though. The witty jokes are still there.
